Gerhard Richter, BLACK-RED-GOLD IV, 2015In the late 1990s, Gerhard Richter was asked to create a work for the monumental wall in the West Hall of the German Bundestag. After spending a year trying to develop images for the politically charged building he created an almost 70 foot work that consists of 6 large enameled glass surfaces in red, black and gold, the colors of Germany's flag. The present work is a special edition released on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the German reunification.
