Jimmie Durham, The Names of Stones, 2011.
Stones are recurring in Jimmie Durham's artistic investigations. Their linguistic and poetic potential is echoed and amplified in his works, made out often of "the most common and ordinary stones... natural stones, cobblestones, even curbstones".
The Names of Stones, which was conceived exclusively for Peep-Hole, is an unusual edition in that each copy is also an original, because the names of the stones are different on each card, building as many fictional portraits. There are 15 cards, each with 9 small stones and their names.
