New Art Editions is pleased to announce John Baldessari’s first collaboration with and also the inaugural print of Multi Editions, a publisher of art multiples in Los Angeles.
Marilyn is comprised of John Baldessari's gestural drawing over an appropriated portrait of Suzy Solidor by Francis Picabia. A chanteuse and owner of a chic Paris nightclub during the 1930’s, Solidor posed for portraits painted by many of the most celebrated artists of the time. Produced and published by Multi Editions based in Los Angeles, this print gets at the heart of Baldessari’s seminal works- where swaths of color re-inscribe an image as his own.
