News: Leading London public galleries announce Allied Editions launching at Frieze Art Fair 2012

On the occasion of Frieze Art Fair 2012 (11-14 October), Camden Arts Centre, Chisenhale Gallery, Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), Serpentine Gallery, Studio Voltaire, and the Whitechapel Gallery will be joining forces by announcing Allied Editions. Each Gallery will feature a portfolio of limited-edition artworks, comprising editions and multiples by renowned British and international artists.  These rare, yet affordable artist editions, originally created in connection with exhibitions and projects, have been specially made and donated by the artists in support of each Galleries’ Exhibition and Education programmes.

Allied Editions will launch a number of new editions exclusively for Frieze Art Fair 2012. These will include Ryan McGinley for Studio Voltaire, Rachel Whiteread for Chisenhale Gallery, Mel Bochner for the Whitechapel Gallery, Tacita Dean for the Camden Arts Centre and Bjarne Melgaard for the ICA.

To support the initiative, the Galleries' Directors will take turns on the stand speaking to the visiting public and personally selling Editions. The Directors taking part in Allied Editions are: Jenni Lomax OBE, Director of Camden Arts Centre; Polly Staple, Director of Chisenhale Gallery; Gregor Muir, Executive Director of The ICA; Julia Peyton-Jones OBE Director and Co-Director, Exhibitions and Programmes and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Co-Director, Exhibitions and Programmes and Director of International Projects of Serpentine Gallery; Joe Scotland, Director of Studio Voltaire; Iwona Blazwick OBE, Director of Whitechapel Gallery.

Allied Editions is located in the Frame section of Frieze Art Fair.
In addition to Frieze Art Fair all Editions will be available directly from the participating galleries.
