Rirkrit Tiravinija – Untitled (The Moon is the Best TV) *SOLD*

Rirkrit Tiravinija, Untitled 2014 (The Moon is the Best TV), 2014  SOLD OUT

Rirkrit Tiravinija, Untitled 2014 (The Moon is the Best TV), 2014Rirkrit Tiravanija’s limited edition Untitled 2014 (The Moon is the Best TV), 2014  was created in tribute to the late French filmmaker Chris Marker and accompanies his posthumous exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery, A Grin Without a Cat, 16 April – 22 June 2014. The edition takes the form of a photo transparency of several frames of a postcard from Nam June Paik, showing front and reverse, sent from Nam June Paik to Gregory Battcock and viewed by Tiravanija at an exhibition of Battocks' archive. The image, which was like a sunset over Paris, instantly made Rirkrit think of Chris Marker and a note that Paik had scribed to Battcock: ' It's trivia pushing towards the sublime', which turned Rirkrit's thoughts towards Chris Marker.   Tiravanija was also interested in the idea of turning the simple images of the post cards in to a story and narrative through use of a still image.
