Simon Denny ‘Products for Organising …’

Simon Denny, Products for Organising Serpentine Parallax Lanyard Edition, 2015

Simon Denny, Products for Organising Serpentine Parallax Lanyard Edition, 2015On the occasion of his first solo London exhibition at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, artist Simon Denny has produced a unique Limited Edition. The Edition designed by Denny is an adapted version of the universal Electronic Conference Badge developed by Parallax for one of the world's largest annual hacker conventions DEF CON. DEF CON is held every year in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first DEF CON took place in June 1993. Many of the attendees at the convention include computer security professionals, journalists, lawyers, federal government employees, security researchers, and hackers with a general interest in software, computer architecture, phone phreaking and hardware modification.

This Conference Badge functions as an electronic and wearable alternative to a business card. The badge includes a high-speed infrared communication and an organic light-emitting diode display (OLED) which enable sharing and storing of easily pre-programmed personal information. This interactive (real peer to peer) badge adapted by Denny is customised to display its owner’s name, as well as information about Simon Denny’s exhibition, effectively creating a Simon Denny Serpentine Galleries community.

The Simon Denny Limited Edition badge can be customised to include your name or requested text on the screen. Please send an email to agnesg@serpentinegalleries.org after the purchase has been made to make this request. Programming and charging instructions are provided with the badge and available to download.
