"The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition has rolled around again. My new series of red spot prints are being launched. GREEN LIGHT 2023 edition of 100. Hanging in the Sculpture room (Lecture Room) hung high.
Ten years ago I photographed a popular print in a previous Summer Exhibition. The image was of a dog. I was covetous of all the red spots it had accrued, and wished I could draw animals. I digitally replaced the dog with a white monochrome and put it in the next years Summer Exhibition. Titled Stolen Thunder it gathered its own sales. I rephotographed my piece at the end of the show, exhibiting it the following year as a frame within a frame. I have annually made a red spot work site specific to the RA Show, replacing animals with abstract colour fields. Seeing Red, and Feeling Blue" (Cornelia Parker - text from the artist's Instagram).
