Jeremy Deller - God Bless David Bowie - 2024
Celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2024, Studio Voltaire has invited many major artists to revisit and reimagine some of their previous House of Voltaire releases for our “Greatest Hits”. Deller has chosen to rework his inspirational 'God Bless David Bowie' tote bag. Bowie was a major component in Deller’s solo presentation at the Venice Biennale in 2013. Looking at the relationship between flamboyant creativity and social change, the artist mapped Bowie’s tour as Ziggy Stardust across the UK in the early 1970s alongside photographs of key moments of political and social upheaval such as industrial action and IRA bombings from the same period.
