John Baldessari has had a long and distinguished career spanning six decades. Most recently, he was awarded the prestigious National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama. In much of his prolific body of work, Baldessari combines narrative images with the associative power of language. Using images selected from 16th century engravings, Baldessari transforms each of these new works by introducing expressive sounds, expanding his range one step further.
