John Stezaker, Blind, 2013.
New print by John Stezaker published as part of Ingleby Gallery’s Billboard for Edinburgh public art project. Since the late 1960′s John Stezaker has worked with appropriated images, cropping and splicing film stills, photographs and postcards to create a range of striking and engaging images. In Blind, Stezaker manipulates a head shot of an unknown actress. The artist’s intervention is minimal but powerful. The act of removing a small horizontal section in the centre of the photograph results in an image which is at once both beautiful and sinister.
