Leiko Ikemura - Awakening - 2025
The glass bodies created in the artist's studio open up poetic pictorial worlds. The glass objects – yellow, pink, violet or blue, tinted – alternate between figure and abstraction. They refer to Ikemura's central motif of the chimeras, a mythical hybrid of man and animal. Each sculpture carries features of the unfinished and the unambiguous. The shiny surface refracts the light in a subtle way, so that they seem to shine from the inside out.
