Pablo Bronstein - ‘Saint Sebastian’ Pencil Holder (purple) - 2018

Pablo Bronstein - ‘Saint Sebastian’ Pencil Holder (purple) - 2017

In addition to the Pink Pencil Holder, published end 2017, House of Voltaire together with the artist Pablo Bronstein have now issued the Purple colored edition.

Pablo Bronstein’s hand-cast ceramic pencil holder pays homage to the early Christian martyr Saint Sebastian, popularized by Renaissance painters and gay literary writers, amonstst others. Believed to have been martyred during the persecution of Christians on the orders of Roman emperor Diocletian, Sebastian was bound to a stake so that Mauritania archers could fill him full of arrows.

Bronstein's artistic practice spans from drawing to choreography and performance; each with a focus on architecture and pre-20th century European design. The artist's interests often lie in the "inaccuracies that occur when the past is re-created".

Each sculpture is hand-built, marbled and glazed by a master Scottish craftsperson. Please allow three weeks for delivery.
