Jonathan Meese X Daniel Richter X Tal R - Es gibt sie noch, die Dinge (They still exist, Things) - 2018 SOLD OUT
Kunsthaus Stade shows a joint exhibition by Jonathan Meese, Daniel Richter and Tal R, which for all three internationally renowned artists is a 1st time collaboration. In the run-up to the exhibition in Holstebro, Meese, Richter and Tal R slipped into animal costumes and transformed temporarily in an octopus, a shark and a shrimp. Photographs show a serene and artistically productive togetherness as animal alter egos. The three sea creatures in many ways are present in the exhibition at the Kunsthaus.Through this limited edition sculpture, which was created exclusively for Kunsthaus Stade, the shark, octopus and shrimp are permanently united. The artists created a nearly 30 cm high plastic sculpture from small plastic animals, which is crowned by a glass inkwell.
"Es gibt sie noch, die Dinge" (They still exist, things) the title of the edition says. It ironically refers to the trend towards the return to good old quality products, for which "Manufactum" - "The department store of good things" - has become synonymous. Manufactum GmbH & Co. KG is a German retailer with nine full-sized stores in Germany and an online store that serves primarily Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the UK.
To realize a 3D-printed sculpture with the appearance of a rococo porcelain figurine, first a 3D scan was made. The production process stages two different finishes and a final varnish in porcelain white. 3,000 hours of production time is required to complete the total edition. Each sculpture will be hand sprayed by the artists with acrylic spray paint. Therefor all the sculptures are unique works of art and reflect the artist's collaboration.
