The Cuban-American artist Jorge Pardo is best known for his ability to transform familiar household objects into eye-catching artworks. Often combining technology with artisanal craft, his works are a perfect synthesis of form and function.
Inspired in part by Mexican baskets, these hand-crafted lamps are a determined labor of love. Each piece requires the 3D laser-cutting of 50 PETG plastic discs, shaped in ways that allow light to shine out in different directions. The discs are then painted by hand, before being stacked around the socket and bulb and held together by three steel rods and over 150 aluminum fittings.
The five Jorge Pardo Brussels Lamps include models #01, #05, #06, #14, and #19, each in a total edition of 100.
The lamps are available individually or as a set of 5.
