Private Sales - KAWS - Untitled (Kawsbob for the Aldrich) - 2010  (1st Sample Proof)  SOLD

KAWS - Untitled (Kawsbob for the Aldrich) - 2010 - 1st Sample ProofNow here's something special ...

Kawsbob for the Aldrich (yellow) was created by KAWS and released in an edition of 100 prints for his first solo museum show at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut in 2011.

In 2010 KAWS produced this 1st Sample Proof, previously to the regular 2011 edition of 100, so the artist and the printer could look at and give a final go on the coloring, size and paper. Images of this 1st Sample Proof print were used for the advertising and sales of the edition. The regular edition was sold through 2 venues: the Aldrich stand on the E|AB Fair and via the website of Art + Culture. At that moment of time this 1st Sample Proof was not for sale. It came available for sale, with permission of the artist, through The Aldrich as a fundraiser for the museum only in 2018.

This is a unique opportunity to purchase a piece of KAWS history. The Spongebob figure is one of KAWS' most sought after work. In October 2018 a record was broken at Sotheby's for KAWS' Again and Again Spongebob 2008 painting. It went for over 1.3 Million dollars, breaking a record for the artist. A set of 3 Kawsbob prints (Yellow, Black, Red) raised $62,277 at the December 2018 auction at Ravenel
