Grayson Perry - Red Alan Toy - 2018
This distinctive soft toy is based on the sculpture Red Alan, 2011 by Grayson Perry RA. Like his ceramic counterpart, Red Alan proudly wears his gold Royal Academicians medal, perfect for celebrating the Royal Academy's 250th anniversary. The original sculpture is held in the RA Collection and was itself based on Perry’s famed childhood teddy bear, fondly known as Alan Measles.
The Red Alan toy has been handmade in Nepal according to fair trade standards with 100% wool outer and 100% polyester filling and its dimensions are approx. 23 x 13 x 7cm. As each Alan is handmade, they are all slightly different with their own unique charm and personality, complete with a mischievous and wonky smile.
