Best known for cut-paper silhouettes and tableaus that complicate traditional narratives of power and repression, Kara Walker has received numerous accolades and is the second-youngest person ever to receive a MacArthur Foundation “Genius Grant”
This single pitcher has two paper-cut silhouettes (each side has a different face) that are reminiscent of the naked sphinx-like sculpture installed in the Domino Sugar factory in 2014.
